Since the properties of the all the shave creams Crabtree & Evelyn offers are similar, I make some general comments and then some I'll add some specific comments for each scent. These creams are my number one choice out of my Top 5. They consistently give me a wonderful shave whether I am using a DE, a str8 or the Feather ACD-N. Even better is the family likes to gives these to me as presents. I guard them jealously. But, these creams are not for everyone. There are two comments made that you hear. One is that people don't like the scents. An example is the Sweet Almond Oil. It doesn't smell like almonds. Not true. If you crush raw almonds and smell them, it smells just like it and not like some sickly almond pastry. The same with the other scents. They are very close to a natural scent and lasts a long time. The second comment is they leave your face a little dry. I personally find these creams very slick, thick and have plenty of cushion. You can use a brush or not but, I love to use a brush for the initial lather and then find myself hand smoothing the lather during the shave. Glide is right on. There is a caveat. Use more water then you think you need and if you do find the cream drying out before you have a chance to shave an area, put some water on your fingertips and smooth it onto your face. Problem solved.
Sweet Almond Oil Shave Cream
The best of the best. Love the scent. This was my first cream and prompted me to buy the other versions. It has never let me down.

I must agree with you, these shave creams are the Very Best! I have been using the Almond Oil shave cream since 1986, I an now at a terrible loss as it has been competly discontinued. Having a Barb wire beard, I was introduced to this by an older woman who was a cosmotologist. First she told me to immediatly stop using all product from a can or aresole type and then she gave me a sample. I have tried several other brands only to be very disappointed. My most recent trial tub was the Casswell & Massey, just not as creamy nor as lubricating.
ReplyDeleteSince I am not fond of odors and have very sensitive skin, that can become red and itchy from other types with fragrances I am at a complete loss.
any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest either Institut de Karite Shave Soap or Pre de Provence. Institut is the better of the two and very nice to your skin with a very light fragrance.
